Life within and without are two different animals, if you will! A - TopicsExpress

Life within and without are two different animals, if you will! A lot of people are experts in their daily lives, in their external lives but when it comes to their internal life, they are completely ignorant! A disease strikes or someone dies and everything around them starts crumbling! The external life which they were experts on falls apart! Drinking and drug abuse ensues! Have you witness that around? If they were experts, they knew it all, then why they fall apart when the events of their own lives demand the same expertise that they offer many of us while things are perfect for them? Well, they are not to be blamed but something is missing in our education system. There is no education system which trains us to go within! There is no education system that trains us to draw that wisdom from within which is independent of external events and circumstances! Then there are many who have mastered to go within but have learned to ignore the external life completely by not taking care of their basic needs. (I am not talking about Swamis and Yogis who sincerely, who out of awakening, out of spiritual fervor, whose eyes are settled on God and nothing but God have taken the road to Sanyasa or renunciation). By ignoring their external lives and the basic necessities, ultimately leads these folks to imbalance of some sort, struggles continue in their lives and the highest emancipation is rare in those cases. What do you think is missing? And there are many in between. They work hard, make a good, relatively good living, find some time to meditate and try very hard to maintain their family life. They meditate for years that way and nothing seems to change in their lives and they wander what they might be doing wrong! Something awful happens either in their lives or around them or in the world and they lose their calm, their inner peace and react unpredictably! Why? Why after years of meditation practice that they are reacting the same way? Have they not learnt the lessons yet? Can you guess? Well, Swami Rama had spoken repeatedly, that I remember clearly and many of you out there might as well, saying that if you (these are my words and my little understanding, I am trying to paraphrase him here so bare with me, a bit!) compartmentalize your external life and the inner life, you are living in two different realities. What you learn from within fails to transform the external arena and the disturbances of the external world, unpredictable circumstances and uncertainty plagues your inner life and eventually interrupts your meditative life. And then he would say that there is a very simple solution to this problem. Build the bridge in between your external and internal life and ye shall have it all.....and that is all I have to say....
