Light-Skinned Black Women Share The Hurtful Comments They Heard Growing Up (VIDEO) huffingtonpost/2015/01/15/light-girls-documentary_n_6474292.html My Point of Reference on this Story Yes indeed but again dark skinned Black Women were not allowed entrance into employment opportunities and were underpaid in comparison to those that were a shade lighter. I worked in Corporate America but I was a brown tone black woman who was half white as my mother was white and father was black, interesting enough I was in the middle. I was not one who could pass my voice rang out white over the phone lol, it was indeed funny as I got hired on the phone and once inside I was then seen as a black person but my work was at the level I was always in need and I held positions others would have fought for in major Corporations as my background as in accounting computers law finance and business development. Therefore I knew the salaries who was who and fought behind the scenes to get equal rights in pay for all. today there are more and more light skinned blacks on television and in movies again they are not having a great time as the nightmare that my father’s friends in the entertainment industry in the pass experience they all had to use the backdoor no matter how good. Today there is a lack of civil rights as well under a cover up of seeming equality as we can go anywhere (still within limits) but then there is the issue of real estate relining, salaries differences which are not felt until someone understands the levels in the game..... Just my point of reference as meeting Lena Horne, knowing the Dorothy Dandridge story, Eartha Kitt and others who were in the mix and being known but shut out of being people just like everyone else in the world because if their shade of black….. My the way all Blacks are not receiving the correct amount of Benefits from Social Security, and or pensions as the recent of race discrimination in salaries which under federal law was covered under the equal rights act there for all pensions 401k’s and any other money received has been undercut where are the folks who are involved in creating justice in this which still plagues all blacks today…. Please remember I saw the salaries structures for everyone in the days of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and 20’s uncut is being nice.
