***Lightning alert #135 in effect for Burke County until 10 pm*** A cluster of severe thunderstorms in East Tennessee are moving southeast and from all indications could impact Burke County later this evening, so therefor we have went ahead with the advance notice and issued a lightning alert for the entire county. A lightning alert is issued with there is potential for lightning strikes to affect an area, in or near thunderstorm activity. Remember, lightning strikes can be deadly even several miles from the core of a thunderstorm. Please take all safety precautions when outdoors, also make sure to un-plug coorded appliances as they are prone to surge if a lightning strikes occurs nearby...
