Lilac Update- Lilac got a bath today. She was FILTHY!!!! It was Probably the first bath she has EVER had. She was nothing short of an angel for the whole thing. The old nasty coat is being replaced by a healthy new coat. Her pear shape is slowly, but surely going away. Dr. LeClair continues to check up on her regularly and she is doing WELL!!!! Very well! Not to bad for a filly that was laying down at the sale and eating mouthfuls of dirt. Her gums were gray and when the vet looked at her at the sale her prognosis was not a good one . She was giving up on life, but we were not giving up on her. Despite being Blind and her back ankles huge from being toxic and not receiving the antibiotics and care that she so desperately needed. She had made it that far, shes obviously a fighter. Her rescue came in the Nick of time. That first week was nerve wracking . Dr LeClair and Dr Moser visited her daily, even 2-3 times a day. Not only was she loaded with sand and not eating, she was also loaded with parasites. So bad they were in her liver. Day by day, little by little, thanks to Dr LeClair and the watchful eyes of Katie, Judy, and Lolli, this once hopeless filly is getting the spark back in her eye. The vet reports that she now eats like a Hoover. Just as she should. Thank you everyone who has been pulling, praying and donating for this filly. Especially her angel, Marylou. She has an amazing home offer once she completes her quarantine time and she is vaccinated and dewormed again. Thank you Katie, Lolli, and Judy for ALL you do for the Forgotten Horses.
