Liner note of the day We often use Psalms as the basis for songwriting. They are not always ready to use for Christian worship because many of them are ethnocentric or at least nationalist in their description of God - as we would now understand them. This one is taken from Psalm 63, and some of the wildness was whittled down to its essence. Beginning as a personal prayer, this psalm moves into a communal prayer - both attentive to God and using our actions. In a group worship setting, normally all voices will sing the whole song together. We highlighted a soft male voice for this recording to vary the sonic landscape and to make it more “dry and weary.” Sometimes we speed this one up to a sort of early 60s Motown sort of backbeat. Have some fun. lyrics Oh God, You are my only God I will seek you earnestly. My soul only thirsts for You. My flesh only yearns for You. In a dry and weary land where there is no water My soul only thirsts for You. My soul waits in silence for God, And my hope is only in this. Let’s use our hands and all that we know For sowing seeds and helping them grow So I thank you Lord for today I’ll move with you whichever way. credits from Resist and Restore Spring 2013, track released 07 June 2013 Produced and Engineer by Circle Of hope Audio Art circleofhopeaudioart.bandcamp/track/dry-and-weary-land
