Applicants must be Registered Indian, Inuit or Metis and must have been residents of Alberta during their previous year of study. Applicants must have just completed their final year of high school and be entering into the first year of post-secondary studies at an accredited Alberta post-secondary institution. Three Scholarships are offered which varies from $375 – $1,250 depending on institution. Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided for the courses of Alberta post-secondary institutions at post-secondary level. Course Level: This scholarship is available for any full time program of two or more year’s duration at Alberta Blue Cross in Canada. Scholarship Provider: Alberta Blue Cross in Canada. Your application must include: -a copy of your Alberta Education High School transcript; -a list or description of your involvement in community and school-sponsored events over the past two years; -two recent letters of reference on letterhead paper: one from your high school, and one from someone in the Aboriginal community, or a program director or supervisor from an Aboriginal association with which you have been involved; -proof of Aboriginal status (for example, a photocopy of your Métis or First Nations Status Card); -a letter confirming your attendance from one of the the accredited post-secondary educational institution named on the back page of this application (most registrar’s offices can provide this for you); and -a short (500 to 1,500 word) essay about you and the reasons why you are applying for the scholarship.
