Listen up Boys and Girls to todays legislative lesson: Voting for the US Speaker of the House For everyone glued to their TVs and internet streams of the voice vote for the Speaker of the House, you are wasting your time. The Speaker was chosen in November by sealed vote of the Republican Conference. Not one Republican ran against Boehner. NOT ONE!! That is when the real vote happened. Thomas Massie said it was like an election in North Korea since only one person was on the ballot. This is why it is all theater: The Republicans own a very large majority in the US House. They choose their leader at the conference held at the orientation conference in November. This is the REAL vote for Speaker. The vote today is the full floor of the house (which includes the Democrats). Since none of them are going to vote for a Republican, they will vote for their chosen leader or someone else that wont matter since they dont have enough votes to win anything anyways. The Republicans now have to voice vote as opposed to the secret sealed ballot done in November. It is widely ceremonial since they all know that Boehner has the votes to win. Now, since the grassroots HATES Boehner a few of them will put on a show that they are going to vote against him. They all choose a bunch of people that will never win and Boehner gets in. These rule breakers knew all along that Boehner was going to win which is why they didnt run any against him in the real election in November. They do it to show their base that they care (or can pretend to care). The Republican leader was already chosen 2 months ago with no opposition. No Gohmert, no Yoho, NO ONE!! Now you get a bunch of representatives making a bunch of noise when they all know that this is ceremonial. Think about what a joke this is. The only person in the house that stands by the Constitution EVERY SINGLE TIME is Justin Amash and yet he has not gotten one vote. BIGFOOT got a freakin vote but not Justin Amash!! Rand Paul (who is a Senator) and Collin Powell (yep thats right) got votes. They are making a joke of the process and all of you are eating it up like its real!! And you wasted your time making a bunch of phone calls for a vote that they took THIS^^^^ seriously!!
