Listened to a great podcast in the weekend where Robb Wolf and Jim Laird spoke about the need to understand where you are on the stress continuum and therefore how you can maximise your training. Stress can come from three main areas 1. Mental/emotional 2. Lifestyle 3. Physical. As training is just another stress we need to understand that if our stress bucket is already over flowing maybe the best thing we can do is have an easier session, go for a walk, have an extra hour in bed or maybe even some meditation. Once the body has regenerated then you can dial up the intensity again. Interestingly and this is the part of the mental battle the easier session will actually help you with fat loss, muscle building or performance goals more than the crash bash session!!!
