Listening to RADIO 4 TODAY programme, all 888,000 ceramic poppies - TopicsExpress

Listening to RADIO 4 TODAY programme, all 888,000 ceramic poppies have at £25.00 have been sold. The Tower Of London can barely cope with the crowds and next weekend HM Queen will once again lead us all in our own reflections and remembering. The poppies will fall, we do care. I wish those that we collectively recall could know of the events we hold. I think of those that perhaps had no one to welcome them home and were forgotten. For many religion plays a part in this and that is a personal choice. To me the divine dictators people worship have as much to answer for as the dictators who instigate conflict and misery. The watchtowers must be manned with great vigilance to ensure the freedoms we take so very much for granted are not lost. In the next few days I will be posting some songs which are special; to me and I would like to share with you. How all the men ( and boys not old enough to enlist) would be amazed at the wonders of colour TV able to share the ceremonies, the wonderful work of the Commonwealth war graves commission and the pilgrimages many people make to the battlefields. I recently saw some footage of the return to England of the unknown soldier for burial in Westminster Abbey. I did not know about the journey as a ceremony. How many people lining that route or visiting the tomb since must have silently wondered if it was a school friend or a relative. Whoever he was he was someone`s son...... lost too young.
