Liverpool’s out-of-form summer buy, Lazar Markovic, is reportedly on the radar of his previous club Benfica, who wish to sign him on loan for the rest of the season. The 20 year old, who has also been the subject of interest for Chelsea in the past, has been unable to replicate his former form for the Anfield club. And consequently, manager Brendan Rodgers may be coaxed into providing the player, who cost £20m last summer, with a chance to find more game time somewhere else. The former Partizan Belgrade ace has found the back of the net only once in 14 appearances, and has been found to lose possession a number of times during matches. He has also been found unable to challenge defenders in the Premier League, with his pace being his only proven weapon till now. Markovic is still believed to possess the kind of potential that can make a difference in the Premier League and despite being unable to grow at Liverpool, is expected to regain his lost form following a temporary change. However, the player’s failure has once again raised questions on manager Brendan Rodgers’ ability to take crucial decisions during transfer seasons, his other blunders being those involving Mario Balotelli and Iago Aspas.
