Living in America is slowly breaking my spirit. Knowing that my peoples mere existence strikes fear into the White mans heart and can result in cold blooded murders that are justified is depressing. We all knew what the verdict was going to be in Michael Browns case, but I cant lie and say that a part of me wasnt hoping for a different outcome. There will be a day when all Black lives are valued just as much as White lives, and until that day comes I will continue to mobilize and March with my people. And to all of you that keep saying why do we march, it doesnt get us nowhere and that we should just take advantage of the free education and better ourselves, that is mighty hard to do when the system was designed to let only a select few to succeed. That is very hard to do when the system breaks your people and keeps them in poverty while stealing their culture and erasing their history. That is very hard to do when the system places school to prison pipelines in our communities, rendering thousands to second class citizenship. Please tell me what sitting at home with our hands folded like good little boys and girls is going to do for us. Do not forget that it was all those brave men and women who marched while getting hosed down and bitten by dogs fifty years ago that got us the civil rights we can enjoy today. I call on all of you to rally and participate in civil disobedience until our voices are heard. No more stolen Black lives.
