Lo I am with you to strengthen and help you Why does God comfort the Jews after all theyve done or us as well for that matter? So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 God called the Israelites to be his people from the time of Abraham to the time of their captivity. His love for them was based on his own redeeming character and was not thwarted by sinful acts of his wayward children. Whether in judgment or comfort, he sought their good. THIS IS LOVE God reaches out to strengthen us and hold us steady; keeping us secure in His care People were overwhelmed and in a state of confused panic. We too are surrounded by powers we dont understand and with which we have little experience. We know what it is to be afraid-afraid of what is happening in the world, afraid of terrorism, afraid of economic collapse, afraid of nuclear proliferation, afraid for our children, afraid for our way of life. Fears paralyze us from doing that which is needed Isaiah is speaking to us as well about the power of God-a power we can know and trust, a power thats understandable to us in the life of Christ and accessible to us in the life of the Holy Spirit- a relationship orchestrated by the Fathers love on our behalf with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit being in total agreement as they reach out to whosoever would believe and thus respond. When we are overwhelmed by vast powers God says, I know how you feel, but I will lead you out of this feeling of being trampled under the heels of arrogant powers Lord Jesus let us so connect with the source available in You that our confidence would reflect Your loving presence in ways totally orchestrated by You alone. When feeling alone we need to be quiet and rest whereby we can recover and experience the restoration available in Christ the creator of all that was, that is and will be. God has reached out to thwart the powers of darkness whereby those who choose to believe and so respond will experience that which divine love has ultimately intended During the days of Isaiah Israel was a 2nd rate nation being threatened by Assyria and by Egypt but was spared through Isaiahs influence. The northern Kingdom was destroyed by Assyria as we see the 2 sided nature of God. Israel had faded from its former prominence and we come to understand the nature of Gods character: Mercy versus judgment Grace versus discipline Justice versus forgiveness Exile versus salvation As in the days of Israel the solution rests on the shoulders of mankind in response to their faith or their unbelief Judah was the southern kingdom of the divided nation of Israel Isaiah knew people who lived a double life being in a state of compromise and apathy. Isaiah reached forth to challenge people to shape up and to love God with all their hearts and mind. To clearly be aware of their own hypocrisy and change their ways responding thus to the inspirations of God OPEN OUR EYES LORD THAT WE TOO MIGHT SEE AND BE AWARE OF THE STATE THAT WE CURRENTLY ARE IN AND THAT WHICH WE ULTIMATELY FACE What are the personal revelations that God has so revealed to you TREASURE AND SO RESPOND INTERACTING WITH THE TRUTHS THAT HE UNFOLDS How awesome to be aware and see Your hands extended in such marvelous ways as we behold Your presence reaching forth to bring restoration and hope Strength includes wisdom, compassion, being trustworthy and using our abilities appropriately What are the principles needed for current situations? We draw strength by meditating on the Word and absorbing the presence of the Holy Spirit The Word gives us insight, understanding with hidden nuggets enlightening us of situations of the day in scripture as well as our present situations RELATIONSHIP to CHRIST as OUR LORD is imperative Renewal of Strength is experienced as we place our hope in the Lord who gives us strength as an eagle to rise up in Victory. Maintain hope in that which the Lord has so promised and revealed with our focus on Christ IF GOD HAS SAID IT SO HE WILL LIKEWISE REACH FORTH TO BRING IT TO PASS OUR PART IS TO ABIDE STEADFAST IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM LO I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS It is Christ’s spiritual presence within us that strengthens and encourages us.
