Lo and behold - the squirting debate strikes again. I wonder why we dont debate the existence of male pleasure in such ways? actually I know the answer - but I wont go into it here. For those who have attended my #FE classes you will know my assessment is much more comprehensive than the flimsy IFLS story getting around the last few days. A colleague emailed me just yesterday with the IFLS story and this was my response: My feeling is they contradict themselves by acknowledging the chemical composition is not strictly urine, but contains elements. They neglect to mention that male ejaculate also contains elements of urine. It must do - it comes through the same tube. This is hardly earth-shattering news to anyone who has studied this. Beyond this- they do not mention why the colour and aroma and taste are so vastly different from urine, why it doesnt stain sheets the way urine does, nor have studies been done on how the paraurethral ducts ( may) function to filter urine from prostatic fluid in estrogen-based bodies. This is a huge omission. In short the questions they are asking are based on a very limited understanding of erotic anatomy ( read: using the male body as the scale against which normal is measured) and the intersection of arousal and its impact on bio chemical makeup of estrogen based bodies. Also- their sample size was only 7 women. I have made more women than this squirt in a year (pushes glasses back onto nose with index finger). Overall, compared to other studies I have read, it leaves me with too many questions and not enough insight. It wasnt that long ago science told us that smoking was not harmful, that grains were essential to human survival and the shape of our skulls determined our intelligence. We have moved on from there now... only just. Until we learn to see through cultural biases around biology, studies of this nature will always be skewed. Clinicians will see what they want to see - they are influenced by the same levels of latent misogyny as anyone else. In short - I take it with a grain of salt (and lemon and tequila). Here is another response to that which I also quite like. heyepiphora/2015/01/how-i-know-squirting-is-real-and-also-not-pee/
