Local Native Beauty Mrs. Florence Drappeau (Winyan Numpa) handcrafted this breathtaking star quilt. Standing to the left is the elegant designer Winyan Numpa and to the right is our soon to be mom Dr. Williams. Dr. Williams ordered this quilt but she was moved by the fact that it was so much more than a well designed blanket. In the last 37 years this quilt is number 707th for the 91 year old Native. She has no plans to slow down either because amongst quilting she stays active by line dancing, playing the piano, getting together with family and anything she can get her hands on to make projects. Wait....Theres more, this young lady didnt dress up for her quilt presentation today because if anyone has ever met her they would tell you that she is one of Yankton Nations sharpest dressed Uncis around. Many years ago she developed an incurable autoimmune condition called LUPUS, but rather than let it slow her down......she kept on going and embraced the sun sensitivity part of Lupus by sporting some of the flashiest hats around.
