(Long but very interesting status ahead) So I have this weird - TopicsExpress

(Long but very interesting status ahead) So I have this weird addiction to daytime TV, Judge shows to be exact. Typically, it is just background noise as I handle daily junk. Well, I came across an episode today that was awesome. This college kid named Hayden Edwards had to a genealogy project for his history final. During the project, he found out that he was related to the family that owned his ancestors. He even found receipts for $4500 for the sale of his Great-Great-Great Grandmother and Grandfather. He was able to track down his Great-Uncle Sonny Edwards and together, they discovered that Great-Uncle Sonny was next in line for the inheritance of some land. The Great-Uncle was even a sharecropper on the land when he as a child. When the two of them tracked down the side of his family that owned them in 1890, who were white, the white side of the Edwards refused to acknowledge or even give them the time of day. This is how they came to be in court. Hayden was able to prove to the judge with receipts, his research and a DNA test that his Great-Uncle Sonny was owed half of the Edwards family land since he was a direct descendant of the man who used to own his family. The white half of the Edwards family was not happy since it meant that they would have to split the acreage down the middle. Hayden provided appraisal documents showing the value of the land. The judge then told Great-Uncle Sonny, You can either have half of the land or $25,000. I will let you choose. He of course chose the cash. The work and research that went into that case was amazing. It was so cool, to watch Hayden blow the mind of the newly discovered Caucasian side of his family.
