Long, long donkey years ago young Punda stood by the tree, where his mother had told him to wait. As he flapped his long punda ears, a smile split his proud face. Punda knew he was a special punda who was born to leave a mark on his entire pundatree. An hour later, three bearded Jews came and untied Punda. “Hurry up, this punda has an important job to do,” one of them said as they led Punda away. Punda’s heart beat faster as he saw his name written in bold in the following day’s newspaper headlines. He even saw himself appearing on Punda TV for an exclusive interview. Punda was so happy to hear the crowd cheer as they placed cloaks and branches on the ground for him to walk on. As Punda stepped on the multicolored cloaks the grin on his proud face grew wider and wider. Punda was on cloud nine. As they approached Jerusalem Punda heard the crowd sing, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” Punda did not have an ancestor called David on his pundatree. That is when he realized the singing, the branches and the cloaks were meant for the one who was riding on his back. “Glory and honour, Master and King,” Punda worshipped, kneeling down. “Good job, faithful Punda,” Jesus said, patting Punda’s back. “Tonight, you will sit with me at My Father’s table.” – THE END – Matthew 21:1 – 11, Zechariah 9:9 PAUSE FOR THOUGHT It isn’t about how well the donkey can get the job done. It is about what the donkey is carrying. And to God alone be all the glory and honor. PS: This story is dedicated to Vincent Vonk Hindu
