Looking for some parental input here... The boys have been - TopicsExpress

Looking for some parental input here... The boys have been asking some very specific questions about how babies are made. Well, mostly Brinson - who is 11. Theyve had the talk and understand that part of the how, but the questions Im getting now are How does the woman know she is pregnant? ... How do the organs form? ... How do you know when its time for the baby to be born?. Questions like that... Which, honestly, there are some questions Ive been asked that I honestly dont know the answers to... My motto has always been, if theyre old enough to ask, theyre old enough to get an answer - however - you answer their question and their question only, not more. I say that because of the joke about the kid who asked his mother where he came from. She sat him down, told him all the birds and bees stuff and he sat there - shocked. She said You did ask... and the kid replied Yeah, Tommy said hes from Texas and I wondered where we were from... So, Im always careful about what Im answering. My question, and where I need some input, is whether or not the PBS special The Miracle of Life is too much for a kid? I would totally stop the movie before the actual birth because - well, they dont need to see that, but it tells the hows, whens, whats, etc. What do you think? Would you show it to an 11 year old? If not, what age would you? I seem to recall watching it when I was in the 7th grade, but it was a health class at school. Doesnt really mean I was ready to watch it because I was 12... So
