Lord, let your peace rule in my heart that I might be able to control my anger and rage. The king got up in a rage, left his wine and went out into the palace garden. But Haman, realizing that the king had already decided his fate, stayed behing to beg Queen Esther for his life. Esther 6:1-10 [ The king rose from the feast in warth. Sudden and uncontolled anger was common for King Xerxes (Ahasuerus). How common is it in our lives? Our lives are so stressful that often we live only one word or comment away from the same kind of anger and rage displayed by the king. We see, on an increasing scale, the rise in violence resulting from anger and rage. Road rage is an example of this type of violence. While Xerxes and Esther provide us with no direct solutions, the passage points us toward the providence of God. God was present with Esther during the kings outbursts and God is present with us today in the midst of all the violence and rage in our world. We must trust that, with Gods presence and help, we will someday be ruled by peace.]
