Lot of different people posting about Child Abuse as April is approaching. Wanted to share a poem I wrote back in high school, after reading about a child who was abused by his parents and murdered. He had many times gone to ER and they always excuses for his injuries. At daycare, he would hurt the toys and then blame them for breaking themselves. Reports were made, but no substantiated abuse was ever proven. His parents were arrested for his death...I didnt follow story after that. So sad that it was not an isolated case. A bandaid for my monkeys knee. An ice pack for his head. Im so sorry you fell out of your bed. A stich for Mr. Rabbit, A cast for Mrs. Owl You really shouldnt run and then you wouldnt fall. A coffin for their baby. A hole dug in the ground. Hush now little angel, I dont want to hear a sound. A first and last kiss from mommy, Then the same from dad. They close the lid, faking tears. Its their fault I am dead. Now, no more aches And no more pains. No more fractures, No more sprains. No more painful love or tears, Ive had enough in my four years. I prayed to God Before I turn 5, please dear Lord, just let me die. So with one more trip down the stairs, my neck they broke, but no one cared. ~Leslie Michelle
