Lots of things to touch upon this morning. First of all, I want to thank everyone who came out to Winstons OB on Saturday night. I was ecstatic from the first note, overwhelmed by the presence of so many musical peers, friends, and fans of the band. For the first time in my musical career I felt like I was playing for a true hometown crowd, like San Diego embraced me with open arms. THANK YOU! And, special thanks to Taurus Authority for opening the night in spectacular fashion, these guys have really unique sound and Im excited to see what the future holds for them. Secondly, Id like to thank my brother Niko and sister Natasha for making their presence felt in a huge way at The Boom Boom Room in SF Wednesday night. Your continuing love and support is so appreciated by me and the rest of the band; you are a huge part of building our Bay Area family. I LOVE YOU, and am so thankful Ive been getting to see you guys on a regular basis. Finally, a bit about the current Earful tour. Last night we played the first show of our Southwest run opening for The Original Wailers, in Flagstaff, AZ. I was more nervous than Ive been in quite some time, anxious from being in the presence of a living legend, Al Anderson. While having many credits to his name including playing with Lauren Hill, Traffic, and an early version of Aerosmith; he is best known for his lead guitar work with Bob Marley. He was with Bob from about 1974-1980, and in that time played some of the most memorable guitar solos in pop music history. He and his band were incredibly welcoming to us, they even invited our horn section (Adrián Terrazas-González- sax and Anne Hauter -trumpet) to play Exodus with them! Al was super kind, Im excited to talk shop, jam with him, and even get some sit ins going between bands. Ill leave with perhaps his best known work, the guitar solo on the live version of No Woman, No Cry. Looking forward to our next show at The Bunkhouse in Las Vegas tonight!
