Love 101 “And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.” 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 Mother Theresa once said the disease of all mankind is an absence of love. I couldn’t agree with her more. We have a generation of people that are addicted to romantic love. We are hooked on giddy feelings, butterflies in the stomach, and dopamine and norepinephrine that stimulate our brains when we feel “in love”. We have a world that has never experienced true, genuine love. When I married my husband, I always said marrying him is like going to Love 101 everyday. He is a very loving and compassionate guy. He doesn’t talk about anyone, is patient, considerate, and thoughtful. He is quick to forgive others and he always believes the best of people. Coming into the relationship, I wasn’t like that. I would hold on to a grudge for a while, was paranoid of people’s motives, was very impatient, and loved people as long as they loved me in return. Thank God He has grown me up over the years, but it was largely due to watching the example of my husband. I would come to him wanting him to feel the same way I did about a situation, and he would just stare at me. He wouldn’t go there with me, but would choose to see God’s heart about it. Love conquers all, it is stronger than death, it never fails, is truthful, pure, and selfless. I have yearned for God to duplicate in me the same love that I have consistently seen in my husband and He has. Decide to see your relationships from a mature place and decide to really walk in love. The characteristics of genuine love are found in 1 Corinthians 13. May someone be able to say one day that being around you is like being in Love 101. Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your love. I receive it in my heart. Grow me up and increase me in Your love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
