Love... And Other Stuff Too! When relocating your pet from one - TopicsExpress

Love... And Other Stuff Too! When relocating your pet from one country to another, there are certainly lots of bits and pieces to consider (that could be a slightly mild understatement). And if you’re making her relocation arrangements on your own (you brave soul, you) or even if you’ve engaged the services of a pet relocations agent, one of the many, many items to think about is the route your pet will travel; exactly what airline and through what country (or countries!) will she travel? Sure… cost can be a factor in the final decision of which route to book ~ some routes (especially direct routes) will cost a bit more, while connecting flights will save you a bit of cash. But here are a few more things to think about above and beyond of the cost of the flight: the age and health of your pet AND the reputation of the airport where she’ll receive care during her transit layover. Quite frankly, there are some airport hubs that are simply much better equipped and suited to handle your pets when traveling, and others?… well, in extreme cases, let’s just say you should do ALL that you can to avoid them (to get an idea of cities to avoid, consider the pet culture in the hub country, for example). If your pet is young and healthy, well then by all means a direct flight could be the way to go, whereas if you’ve got a senior pet or one that needs watching over for medical reasons, it might be that she could benefit from a break to stretch her legs during a layover in a city with decent animal transit care.
