Love our MS Shining Stars! Meet Mark Butler For the past ten years, Mark Butler of North Easton has provided services big and small to the National MS Society. As a talented construction worker, he has built incredible and elaborate sets each year for the MS Challenge Walk on Cape Cod: from a pirate ship, to an airplane, to a huge bank vault worthy of Al Capone. But his biggest contributions come from the small things he does for the hundreds of people who walk fifty miles over three days to find a cure for multiple sclerosis. “I’ll change their dirty socks if they need it,” said Butler. That’s why the Society’s Greater New England Chapter recently honored Butler with the 2014 MS Challenge Walk Volunteer Award at its MS Shining Stars dinner in Norwood. “Mark Butler is the definition of a humble leader. He is an incredibly talented construction worker with the biggest and kindest heart of anyone you should meet,” said Board of Trustees Chair Piper McNealy. This year, Butler and his crew chose a Roaring 20’s theme for their Challenge Walk rest stop. Mark created a large bank vault, stocked with bags of “money”. They dressed as gangsters, and posed for pictures with the walkers. “Challenge Walk would not be the same without Mark and his enthusiasm for the event and the cause,” said McNealy. Wonder what he’ll do in 2015… To sign up to walk or volunteer for MS Challenge Walk 2015, go to: msChallengewalkcapecod.org
