Im thankful you are here today, Your heart and nearly stopped and slipped away, I cherish your little smile, It made the pain worthwhile, Though it was dire straits, And a close visit through the pearly gates, The spell was broken from the enchanted, I made a wish and it was granted, My kin wasnt so lucky, Stillborn unable to ride the new buggy, Though my life was under threat, I know he watches over me as it wasnt my time yet, My life had nearly the same faith, The reaper will have to wait, My eyes get to open today, Mum and dad get to smile and play, As I live and get old, Im so privileged Im not sleeping six foot under in the cold, Its no ones fault he didnt make it, Im here kept warm in the blanket you knitted, Though our life cannot be guaranteed, Scans may save a life that needs to be freed, Please let go of the sorrow, I love you mum, Ill see you tomorrow, To survive through the impossible, Nothing will stop me smiling and bring joy where possible, For all you grieving mums and dads, Think of their life like the wind on colourful flags, Im here to make my mark, Ill sing while the dog will bark, So collect your tears, Let us grow together and face our fears. 2014©Eamonn Ryan
