Low-fat milk, cheese or yogurt, which one is better for the knees? - TopicsExpress

Low-fat milk, cheese or yogurt, which one is better for the knees? Go milk! At least if you suffer from osteoarthritis (OA). Healthy joints have thick smooth cushions on both sides. But with OA the cushion deteriorates so the surfaces start to rub against each other. A recent study shows that the mix of minerals, vitamins and proteins contained in milk slows down the wear and tear of the knee’s soft tissue whereas cheese did not. The authors explain that the saturated fat in cheese may produce more inflammation. The study stressed that the benefits of phosphorous, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, and amino acids in low-fat and skim milk support the knee joint. Just 8-ounces on most days will make the difference. – Arthritis Care and Research.
