Lukao Fuha is an international ceremonial gathering of Taotao Håya Chamoru people, families, and friends honoring the place of our creation Lasso’ Fuha where Fo’na, one of our creator spirit ancestors, became the giant stone from which emerged the first humans. We understand the Lukao is one the highest activation of Chamorro liberation and invite you to raise prayers to bring all the people of this planet into harmony with the earth, with our relatives, with spirit. In Tumaiguini (February) 2014, we organized Lukao Fuha for the first time in four hundred years, renewing and revitalizing our ancient responsibility to care for and watch over our sacred islands. For the coming year, we offer our ancestors I Lini’e nu i Manggåffa Manhita nu Na’Hulo Kåhna the vision of our united family to raise our spiritual energies. We honor the recovery and revitalization of our unique indigenous traditions and activate them in creative ways to pray together in a good way. We honor Cosalish people as the taotao tåno (people of the land) and that we now share the responsibility to care for this land we now occupy as we would care for our own lands. We invite our Cosalish friends and elders into the circle to sing their songs, speak their languages, and tell their stories as we have for thousands of years. For those of us living in Duwamish and Cosalish land, we hold our ceremony at the Daybreak Star Center. We feel particularly inspired and empowered by the history of the Center, and the fierce leadership of Bernie Whitebear and the organizing of United Indians.
