Luke 17:22-24 (22) The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it. (23) And they shall say to you, See here; or see there: go not after them nor follow them. (24) For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. (25) But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. [Editor’s note: Jesus was telling His disciples that He must be rejected by the Jews of His day and suffer to the death. But that at some time in the future people will be longing to see Him return. Jesus is saying that there will be false sightings of Christ where people will say to go to a specific location to see him. But Jesus says not to go; because when Jesus returns, He will be coming like the lightening in the sky. Everyone will see His return. Are you and those in your arena of family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances and enemies ready for the return of Jesus? Let’s call this arena your missionary field. We don’t have to travel overseas to be a missionary. Have you done everything in your power to introduce salvation through the Lord Jesus to your community of souls, your missionary field? Start by reading and studying the Bible so you understand your faith. If you have not been reading the Bible start by reading a respected modern translation of the letters and epistles from ROMANS to JUDE. This will help provide an understanding of the church, the body of Christ and our membership, our adoption into the family of God and what is expected of us in this world. Then continue by living in a way which eliminates the desires of the flesh and the world from our thoughts and actions AND putting on the will of the Father in heaven and growing our new inner spirit in Christ. Reading the books in the Bible mentioned above will help explain how to accomplish these goals. Be kind. Be wise. Be loving. Love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Be joyful in all we do. For God loves a joyful servant (2 Cor 9:7).]
