He organized the upcoming Luncheon in Pink to provide women with gift vouchers to Tomorrow’s Woman, a store that specializes in providing breast cancer patients and survivors with wigs and mastectomy products. “I feel like this is my way of giving back,” Rose said. Just a few tickets remain for the luncheon, which is at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at La Gala, 601 State St. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at Werner-Lowe Fine Gifts or sister store WL2, both of which are owned by Rose. The luncheon will feature a fashion show called “Stepping Out Fashionably to Celebrate Life,” with 90 vintage outfits from the 1930s through the 1960s. When Rose envisioned a fashion show, he kept thinking of the 1961 movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and classic Hollywood stars like Audrey Hepburn and Greta Garbo. He approached Danielle Labold, owner of Labold and Sons Salvage, to provide vintage clothes for the show. “We’re all fascinated by those past designs ... so I thought that would be more interesting than a modern fashion show,” Rose said. Brickyard Cafe will provide the food, Nashville-based soul singer Chris Burke will perform and Werner-Lowe and WL2 will sell jewelry. Proceeds from the event will go to the Commonwealth Health Foundation, which owns Tomorrow’s Woman. The money will be designated for gift vouchers to the store, which women can apply for through the foundation. “We’re extremely honored to be able to provide this service for women in need,” said Bonnie Strode, manager of Tomorrow’s Woman. “This luncheon will make it possible for us to give back to the community.” Through ticket sales alone, enough money has been raised to provide 70 women with $100 vouchers to the store and Rose believes even more will be raised during the event through jewelry sales and donations. He hopes the event will help breast cancer survivors and women fighting the disease feel good about themselves. “Why not for a moment ... celebrate the fact that you’re making it,” Rose said. — Follow faith/general assignments reporter Laurel Wilson on Twitter at twitter/FaithinBG or visit bgdailynews
