Lyme Disease and Other Coinfections: Common Cause of Unexplained - TopicsExpress

Lyme Disease and Other Coinfections: Common Cause of Unexplained Illness I have been fortunate to have been a mostly healthy person for most of my life, with only a few nagging, but non-life threatening problems. In the summer of 2002, I contracted Lyme disease. Nothing like some personal experience with a persistent infectious disease to open your eyes to your patients. I began to look at my patients who had similar symptoms, with chronic fatigue, joint pain, swollen joints, brain fog, sleep problems, nerve pain, numbness, muscle twitching, tics, balance problems, cognitive impairment, autism, moodiness and other nonspecific symptoms and started testing them for possible infectious causes. Sure enough, a disproportionate number of patients tested positive for Lyme disease, bartonella, babesia, mycoplasma, anaplasma and strep. Once we started treatment, many of these symptoms started to dissipate and often completely resolve. If you or someone you know has experienced chronic unexplained illness, I would highly recommend seeing healthcare provider who specializes in tick-borne illness and understands the organisms that cause these symptoms. Unfortunately, the conventional medical community often downplays these microbes and doesnt believe that that are as common as they actually are. A Lyme literate doctor (LLD) can help you find out if you have a tick-borne illness and can recommend appropriate treatment.
