Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay with Secretary, Director, site supervisors and contractors of Department of Roads (DoR), Ministry of Works and Human Settlement (MoWHS). Lyonchhen examined the Thimphu-Wangdue Phodrang road widening works on 8th September 2014. Speaking to the officials from the MoWHS and the contractors, Lyonchhen urged them to build a quality road which will serve as a pride for the Bhutanese, especially the youth. He said that the officials of DoR, MoWHS and the contractors have proven that they can build good roads. Lyonchhen applauded them for a job well done so far and asked them to continue with the hard work. Lyonchhen said that the road is very important for economic growth. With the road widening work to continue until Trashigang Dzongkhag, Lyonchhen said that after the completion of the work people should be able to sell their produce, live in the east or central Bhutan and travel to the east in shorter duration comfortably without getting tired. The thickness of the road is: Granular Sub Base (GSB) = 250mm Wet Mix Macadam (WMM) = 225mm Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM) = 75mm Asphalt Concret (AC) = 50mm Road Width = 6.5m
