L’ANGE D’APOCALYPSE 18 N’APPARUT PAS EN 1888 Beaucoup de personnes croient et enseignent que l’ange d’Apocalypse 18 a descendu ou est venu en 1888; cependant Sr. Ellen G. White déclare le contraire: “I HAVE NO SPECIFIC TIME OF WHICH TO SPEAK WHEN THE OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL TAKE PLACE—WHEN THE MIGHTY ANGEL WILL COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, and unite with the third angel in closing up the work for this world; my message is that our only safety is in being ready for the heavenly refreshing, having our lamps trimmed and burning.” Selected Messages, vol. 1, p. 192 (1892). Observez que quatre (4) ans après 1888 (en 1892) la servante du Seigneur déclara qu’elle ne pouvait “spécifier le temps… où un ange puissant descendra du ciel, joignant sa voix à celle du troisième ange pour achever l’œuvre en faveur du monde”. Voici une autre déclaration concernant cette affaire: “When, after Christ’s ascension, the Spirit came down as promised, like a rushing, mighty wind, filling the whole place where the disciples were assembled, what was the effect? Thousands were converted in a day. We have taught, WE HAVE EXPECTED THAT AN ANGEL IS TO COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, THAT THE EARTH WILL BE LIGHTENED WITH HIS GLORY, WHEN WE SHALL BEHOLD AN INGATHERING OF SOULS SIMILAR TO THAT WITNESSED ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST.” Ye Shall Receive Power, p. 158 (1893). Considérez que cinq (5) ans après 1888 la Sr. White déclara que “nous devons espérer qu’un ange descendra du ciel”. Et elle spécifie que quand il aura descendu “nous contemplerons une moisson d’âmes similaire à celle qui eut lieu au jour de la Pentecôtes”. A continuation vient une autre déclaration sur le même sujet: “We are to throw aside our narrow, selfish plans, remembering that we have a work of the largest magnitude and highest importance. In doing this work we are sounding the first, second, and third angel’s messages, and are thus BEING PREPARED FOR THE COMING OF THAT OTHER ANGEL FROM HEAVEN WHO IS TO LIGHTEN THE EARTH WITH HIS GLORY.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 406 (1900). Observez aussi que douze (12) ans après 1888 la messagère du Seigneur parlait de préparer “l’arrivée de cet autre ange”. Si en 1900 il était nécessaire de préparer la venue de l’ange d’Apocalypse 18, l’ange vint il donc en 1888? Sans doute que NON. Nous présentons une autre déclaration au sujet de cette affaire: “THE PROPHECIES IN THE EIGHTEENTH OF REVELATION WILL SOON BE FULFILLED. During the proclamation of the third angel’s message, ‘ANOTHER ANGEL’ IS TO ‘COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, HAVING GREAT POWER’, AND THE EARTH IS TO BE ‘LIGHTED WITH HIS GLORY’. THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD WILL SO GRACIOUSLY BLESS CONSECRATED HUMAN INSTRUMENTALITIES that men, women, and children will open their lips in praise and thanksgiving, filling the earth with the knowledge of God, and with his unsurpassed glory, as the waters cover the sea. “Those who have held the beginning of their confidence firm unto the end will be wide-awake during the time that the third angel’s message is proclaimed with great power. DURING THE LOUD CRY, THE CHURCH, AIDED BY THE PROVIDENTIAL INTERPOSITIONS OF HER EXALTED LORD, WILL DIFFUSE THE KNOWLEDGE OF SALVATION SO ABUNDANTLY THAT LIGHT WILL BE COMMUNICATED TO EVERY CITY AND TOWN. The earth will be filled with the knowledge of salvation. So abundantly will the renewing Spirit of God have crowned with success the intensely active agencies, that the light of present truth will be seen flashing everywhere.” The Review and Herald, October 13, 1904 (par. 3, 4). Observez que la messagère du Seigneur, seize (16) ans après 1888, parlait de que “un autre ange doit descendre du ciel, ayant une grande puissance”. Elle n’a pas dit qu’un autre ange “devait descendre”, ou bien que “avait descendu”, sinon “doit descendre”; ce qui veut signaler quelque chose qui n’a pas encore été accompli quand fut faite la déclaration en 1904. Alors, je demande encore: L’ange vint-il en 1888? NON. Considérons cette dernière déclaration sur ce point: “The last great conflict is before us, but help is to come to all who love God and obey his law, and the earth, the whole earth, is to be lighted with the glory of God. ‘ANOTHER ANGEL’ IS TO COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN. THIS ANGEL REPRESENTS THE GIVING OF THE LOUD CRY, WHICH IS TO COME FROM THOSE WHO ARE PREPARING to cry mightily, with a strong voice, ‘Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird’ Rev.18:1, 2.” Selected Messages, vol. 3, p. 412 (1906). Considérez que dix-huit (18) ans après 1888 la servante du Seigneur confirme qu’un “‘autre ange’ doit descendre du ciel”. Cela indique qu’il n’avait pas encore descendu en 1906. En plus elle mentionne que l’ange d’Apocalypse 18 “représente la proclamation du grand cri, qui sortira des lèvres de ceux qui sont en train de se préparer” pour annoncer la chute de Babylone. Puisque le verbe est au temps futur (sortira), l’évènement dont il se réfère (la proclamation du grand cri) aura lieu aussi dans le futur.
