M7 the Chief Launcher was recently in Mukono to announce the elevation of Mukono Health Centre IV to a hospital status...this morning a joined a group of volunteers to clean this facility which lacks even the most basic things like brooms... The place is literary rotting....We were told that there is only one sweeper for the facility who hasnt been paid for four months now. In the Maternity wing Women in labour were sitted out in the grass for lack of space inside. In the Labour Ward a single Midwife was delivering two women, attending to them in turns. The Maternity ward has space for only six beds and they were all occupied....While there ayoung lady was brought in with a very strange diesese, she shallowed Fasinder a few days ago and got a negative reaction;she lost all her skin, you can easily mistake her for a victim of fire...the hospital couldnt handle and she was reffered to Mulago. The relatives after alot of fundraising raised 20,000/= which wasnt enough to fuel the Ambulance. As the area MP I came in and fueled the Ambulance. Well there was an oldman who had failed to pass urine, the Doctor wanted to insert a tube to ease him but the hospital had none, he was also reffered to Mulago. The ambulance now had two patients to take to Mulago. Immidietely a Young Lady came with a highly Dehydrated baby, well the hospital had no rehydration fluids not even the cunnuler and we each contributed 1,000/= and raised 15000 for the treatment. Immidiately a woman approached me; her son had been lying in pain at the hospital for two days now in pain as she went to fundraise 150,000/= the Doctor had demanded in order to operate on him. In the two days she had been able to raise 50,000/=.I talked to the youngman who looked so frail. I had to go in a corner for a one to one with the Doctor and soon after the youngman was wheeled into the threate . No sooner had I finished this than a Jjaaja came running(imagine an old woman running) after me...her brother had been refered to Mulago by Buikwe Hospital and she was told that in Mukono the MP has an ambulance so she had come for assistance...She had no money to fuel the Ambulance ....Dear God, I couldnt help.... I run away from the hospital frustrated and stressed...Iam now at my Doctors place with Low blood pressure.
