MAKING OF MARTYRS? Youd think these fellows would have learned - TopicsExpress

MAKING OF MARTYRS? Youd think these fellows would have learned their lesson by now. The WTC became the 21st Centurys version of the Alamo, a symbol for free nations around the world. The Boston Marathon had the same effect on every major city in America. Thats what makes America one of the hardest targets on the planet - we turn our afflicted into poster children, our ravaged areas into humanitarian shrines. The terrorists of the world are seeking more fertile ground - and France doesnt seem to be a good idea. The French Revolution took place a little over a decade after the American Revolution. Instead of getting embroiled in a prolonged civil war, they went into the royal palace and took everyones head off. They tend to cut to the chase, and cherish their right of self-expression and personal liberty. During WWII, the Nazis persecuted hundreds of thousands of Frenchmen to no avail. The French people say what they want to say, they live, laugh and love, and no Islamic extremists will take that away no matter what the cost. The whole Charlie Hebdo thing blew up in their faces. I wouldnt have known who Charlie Hebdo was if he walked up and kicked me in the groin. Now kids around the world are proclaiming I am Charlie Hebdo, and you can be sure their political cartoonists are spawning imitators across the planet. Charlie Hebdo has become a new symbol of political martyrdom, and the more terror cells that spring up in France, the more French people will rally in Paris for their right to live, laugh and love. Damn, I wish some of those screwballs in the Islamic State would pick up a couple of my novels. I bet my sales would go through the roof. Maybe I could take a couple of them with me when they show up. america.aljazeera/opinions/2015/1/charlie-hebdo-gouaillesatireislamjournalism.html?utm_campaign=wklynewsletter010815&utm_medium=email&utm_source=editorialnewsletter
