MANILA - Miss World 2013 Megan Young finally responded to the negative comments made by Facebook user Devina DeDiva, which triggered online outrage early this month. Young, who arrived in Manila on Thursday after fulfilling some of her duties as the newly crowned Miss World, said she only wishes DeDiva the best. I wish her the best... Pagdating sa ganyang tipo ng bagay, hindi ko na lang po pinapansin dahil hindi naman yun dapat pinapansin, she said in an interview with radio DZMMs Zhander Cayabyab and other members of the press. Screenshots of DeDivas alleged comments about Young and Filipinos made the rounds on social networking sites early this month. Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them, she was quoted as saying. They are mostly filthy maids and will only be of that status. End of story, she added. The words Devina DeDiva then became the No. 1 trending topic in the Philippines on Twitter as several Filipino Internet users reacted to her comments. The national director of Miss World Philippines, the local organizer of the pageant, only expressed pride for Young as she was asked for comment on the issue. The honor is not only Megans but the Philippines, Cory Quirino said in a statement she earlier sent to ABS-CBN News. We have made history and have proven once and for all that the Filipina is the most beautiful woman in the world! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas, she added. Busy week Young is set to take part in the NBA Global Games at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Thursday night. She will do the ceremonial toss in the NBA pre-season game between the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets. Youngs historic Miss World win, a first for the Philippines, will be celebrated on Friday with a motorcade that will pass through parts of Makati City, culminating with a program at the SM Mall of Asia. Young is also set to visit Malacañang, Senate, Congress and her hometown in Olongapo in the coming days. The beauty queen will also make several guest appearances on TV programs starting Saturday.
