MANILA – Officials of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) were deployed to Rosario, Cavite on Thursday to investigate an alleged oil spill. The PCG is investigating if the oil leaked from a pipe line of third party contractor of oil firm Petron or from motor tanker MV Makisig, which is docked in Rosario. MV Makisig is carrying fuel and transporting it to a Petron plant through an underwater pipe line. Petron officials said there is no leak from their pipe line. The ship’s captain, Avelino Casinillo, also denied that the oil came from his vessel. Seven barangays in Rosario are affected by the spill, but authorities fear that the spill may reach Tanza.
