MARKS BEST MOVIE SONGS EVER (1955-99) COUNTDOWN ... NO. 211 ON THE RADIO--DONNA SUMMER (#5, 1980, Foxes) When producer Giorgio Moroder agreed to take on the task of being the creative musical director for the motion picture Foxes starring Jodie Foster, Scott Baio, Sally Kellerman, Randy Quaid and Runaways band member Cherie Currie about teens growing up in the San Fernando Valley, he knew the person who could sing the movies theme song the way he wanted it to be done. In one of her last acts for Moroder and Casablanca Records president Neil Bogart, Donna Summer, who was having enormous success on the chart at this oint, recorded On The Radio and the song flew up to No. 5 by late winter. It would be the last of nine Top 10 hits Summer recorded before she left the Bogart and Casablanca to go join David Geffens Geffen Records. This is the first of two Summer songs in this countdown. The other, I promise, will come waaaaaaaaaaaaaay later on. Thoughts, memories? Enjoy!
