MAURICIO SULAIMAN ASSESSES THE TWO UPCOMING MEGA FIGHTS.. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, says two upcoming championship fights could create fascinating opportunities and cement, or change history. Concerning the May 3rd welterweight clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grande in Las Vegas, Mauricio says Marcos Maidana hits exceptionally hard and is a hungry fighter, whos defeated Adrien Broner. But he also stresses that Floyd Mayweather remains pound for pound the best boxer in the world, and the most important champion for years. Mauricio confirmed that the question of the retain and return, viz the welterweight and super welterweight WBC belts, will be revisited with Floyd after the third day of May. He described the WBC middleweight title bout between Sergio Martinez and Miguel Cotto, chalked in for June 7th at Madison Square Garden, NY, as one of the most important championships in the last ten years, with an excellent future for the winner, and a varied array of future opponents including: Rubio, Chavez Jr, Ward, Bika and possibly Mayweather.
