MCA has recently appointed two state deputy chairmen in a few state liaison committees which include Perlis, Perak, Kedah, Pahang, Kelantan, Sabah, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan. For Negeri Sembilan, the MCA state chairman Datuk Wee Ka Siong appointed MCA Teluk Kemang Division chairman Datuk Seri Dr Lim Chin Fui and MCA Jempol Division Yap Ching Leong as his deputy state chairmen. However, Lim has declined the appointment and one of his reasons publicly cited was that he did not want the appointment of two deputy state chairmen to be a laughing stock. He said that such appointment has resulted in different opinions in the party; there are those who think that the appointment is against the MCA Party constitution while there are also those who take it as a joke. MCA must be the only political party in the country which has appointed two state deputy chairmen. But it seems that Datuk Lim Chin Fui is the only MCA leader who does not wish to be associated with the joke and has strongly and publicly spoken against such an appointment. He has also announced his rejection of the appointment. MCA Legal Bureau chief Tay Puay Chuan has publicly explained in the Chinese media that the appointment is not an issue as the party will only submit the name of one state deputy chairman to Registrar of Societies ( RoS) . It is obvious that by appointing two state deputy chairmen, MCA has violated its own Party constitution. What Tay said publicly is enough reason for RoS to investigate and take action against the MCA. So will RoS do what it should do? RoS has been swift in carrying out investigation against the DAP on false allegations made against the DAP internal polls. RoS must not practice double standard and must conduct an immediate probe against the MCA for violating its constitution.
