I am a firm believer that prayer is not just an act of asking for - TopicsExpress

I am a firm believer that prayer is not just an act of asking for Gods help, or asking for him to help others, prayer is not just empty words spoken in the direction of the father. It is more than just words of faith for faith is more than words or feelings. Prayer itself is making that Divine connection, seeing the sacred in yourself, opening that place inside and releasing all of who you are. Because prayer is not about you, its not about us, it is about Him. God doesnt make deals, because there is nothing that he needs from you, there isnt anything he wants from you, often times people pray for things, they pray for guidance, they pray for strength. Realize that prayer is not about the self, in fact it must be the furthest thing from the self. Prayer is about recognizing the Divine, seeing and knowing the sacred. Making that divine connection with God and speaking to him about all that He is in your life. Imagine yourself, your friends and family come to you and they ask for things from you. Does that ever feel like love? Now imagine a life where all of those people come to you and bestow grace upon you, they tell you how much they love you, how important you are in their life how significant you are, they speak with a profound joy and love that takes your breath away. Wouldnt you be more willing to help them in their time of need even though they do not ask for help, but because you know they need it and it is worth your help because they love you regardless if you help them or not. Wouldnt that feel more like love? That is how God sees you. He doesnt want anything from you, there isnt anything you can give him that isnt his already. But to love him, to express that love for him, to open your heart and let him see the Divine in you. There is a word, and anyone who has ever done yoga has heard this word, namaste, it literally translates to the divine in me greets the divine in you and we must realize that there is a divine presence in all of us, it was awakened when Christ was resurrected. We were bought at a price, the death Christ died he bought us from our sin, and through his resurrection we became children of God through Jesus. And if Jesus lives in us, and we in Jesus, and if Jesus lives in God the Father and the Father in the Son, then we also live in the Father and the Father in us. Therefore there lives in us the divine presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is through that divine presence that our prayers are heard. Likewise, we must speak with one another. When we encounter everyone in our lives, we must open our hearts to them. Set yourself aside. When speaking to one another let not your self fall into a trap of comparison, stop trying to one up each-other, but listen to the divine in one another. Let your divines speak to one another. You will find that if you can communicate on that spiritual level with your neighbor, you can exist on a plane of wisdom that far exceeds what you ever believed to exist. To connect with a person in such a way will help you to love them as you love yourself, as God loves you, because you will be able to see them as He sees you. And you may even find a depth to yourself that you may have thought you lost, or didnt know you had. -food for thought.
