MEET MONICA!! Monica was in need of money, and thats just what a bunch of RADAR supporters promptly provided to save her! About two years old, Monica is a Rat Terrier-Beagle mix who arrived on April 21st at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. She was brought to the shelter by animal control. Despite being described as terribly cute, Monica had no rescue or adopter interest. And the reason was simple: she was heartworm positive. On May 27th, One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania offered to take Monica IF her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADARs liaison with Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, knew just where to turn: RADAR. Our funds were low, so we put out an urgent appeal. In just a few hours all the needed funds were raised and Monica had her money! She received her heartworm treatments on June 24th and July 26th. Heres what Susan told us about her photo shoot with Monica: She was hiding out in the security of her igloo (we have a photo in her gallery!). When I called her, she let out a huge exhale and off we went. Frankly, she was a super star! Monica was a little shy and meek at first, but in no time she got into the groove of things. She seemed to smile and started to wag her tail. Next thing I knew, she was on her back hoping to eek out a belly rub! Shes calm and snuggly. Monica is very gentle and sweet!
