MEMORANDUM FOR Family and Friends of D/1-79 FA Soldiers SUBJECT: Welcome Letter Greetings from beautiful Fort Sill, Oklahoma! I am Captain Anthony Lawrence and I am your Soldier’s Battery Commander for Basic Combat Training. The Battery First Sergeant is First Sergeant Terry Brickhouse. I am pleased to write you concerning your Soldier who has been stationed here for Basic Combat Training. Your Soldier is doing well and has had an opportunity to contact you at this point. Soldiers will receive phone privileges, usually on Sundays if they are in good training and disciplinary status after red phase. I want you to know that the Drill Sergeants and Cadre here are extremely professional and dedicated to the care and training of your Soldier. They are selected from the top 10% of their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and undergo rigorous training and certification to conduct training. The next nine weeks will be challenging for your Soldier, but we will do all that we can to ensure their success and a solid start to their military careers. I will send out digital postings on the Delta Battery Facebook account sill-army.mil/434/1-79/1-79d.html that describes some of the training your Soldiers conduct here with photographs. Important family day and graduation day information will be sent out both on Facebook and letter via U.S. Mail on the upcoming graduation events. I highly encourage you to attend the family day and graduation activities at 09:00 a.m., on Thursday, 8 August 2013 and Friday, 9 August 2013 at 2:00 p.m. respectively. I will send out a detailed graduation information packet with times and locations by week six of your Soldiers’ training (14July13). You can also find information on Ft.
