MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN 2014 The season started off slow and was at times unnerving, but its great to have regained momentum with Trass Family Motorsport and Im pumped for whats in store for 2015. We are taking on both Bathurst 12 Hour and Australian GT campaigns in the Ferrari 458 GT3, plus more to come here at home with the South & North Island; and NZ Endurance Championships! A full-on calendar of 14+ Australasian events may increase further still with one or two international races. Regardless, I cant wait to get started with our Bathurst shakedown in just a fortnight at Hampton Downs. My 2014 on-track highlight was without doubt #TFMs coming of age performance in our first race running as a standalone team, finishing 2nd in the NZ/South Island Endurance Series final at Timaru. We were agonisingly close to victory with horrible wet weather and team strategy making the underpowered Ferrari F430 Challenge a genuine contender, battling to the flag with the Porsche of Craig Baird. But most important was the potential our young team showed, which was boosted further on the rollout and debut of NZs first and only Ferrari 458 GT3 at the Highlands Motorsport Park NZ 101. Off the track, my highlight was a day of adventure Ill never forget thanks to beautiful Queenstown and the #Highlands101 crew, alongside my AGT friends/rivals! It made one appreciate just what a paradise we live in here in New Zealand! Check out the video of what we got up to here: youtu.be/oSZ_ZsraE_8 Before I sign off for the year, I woulf like to say a few customary Thank Yous... - to my family, and in particular Dad & Denise and my grandparents Rob & Wendy for their selfless time, effort, love and support year after year. - to the Boss Gerald Trass (and the entire Trass entourage) for having the vision to make TFM a reality, and to put your faith in me to lead the way! - to the unsung heroes that are TFM race crew and office team from Invercargill to Auckland, for their passion in putting in the long hours and for often performing under intense pressure. - to my Personal Partners in Redpaths Electrical, Laser Tools NZ, CRC, Gourmet Direct Ltd (NZ), Robbie Bird Wines, Sony New Zealand, iSign it and Fineline Sign & Tint. Thanks for the fun events & promotions, and your ongoing support in my career. Further cudos to those who have pledged additional support to TFM in its early phase. - to Graeme Smyth, Gerald Trass, Robin Gray and Simon Ellingham - those Ive driven alongside this season - for their ever-improving speed, consistency and development as classy GT & endurance drivers. - to Fastway Racing and McElrea Racing for never giving up in my sole appearance with old friends at FWRs international debut, the Phillip Island 101. It was a race which had real potential but was plagued by one car issue after another. - to Motorsport Services Limited for their efforts in the early phase of the TFM team. - to Sam Robinson, Brian Lawrence & Robin Taylor, Chris Amon, Jamie Kett, the late Jack Ralston, my Aussie bro Ian Baker, (and the large number of others whom remain nameless) for their friendship, and invaluable mentoring advice & networking assistance. - to those who have donated their passion, time and services - much of it voluntary - to myself as well as the teams & events I have competed in. - and finally to the friends, fans and followers of my career both at the track and here online. Your messages of support and encouragement are all read and appreciated and I hope I can count on it again as we chase titles in 2015! Cheers for now and be safe out there over the Christmas break, Jono :)
