MESSY MIX -TUESDAY EVENING UPDATE- TONIGHT That Snow/Ice Pellet mix changes to Freezing rain this evening then showers and fog patches in Southeastern Newfoundland tonight. Meanwhile in Central, Snow mixes with Ice Pellets then over to Freezing Rain which looks set to hold right into Wednesday morning making for an icy drive. Freezing Rain Warnings are in effect. Corner Brook and the West Coast will see Snow mixed with Ice Pellets and likely sees 10-15 cm of accumulation thru Wednesday morning. Snow builds into the Northern Peninsula and Southeastern Labrador. Winds Gusting 60-70 km/h for most... however parts of the West will see Gusts to 120 km/h along parts of the Coast. Wind Warnings are in effect. WEDNESDAY St. Johns and Southeastern Newfoundland will see Southwest winds pumping a mild shot of 7 to 10 degree temperatures! Morning showers will make way for some afternoon Sunny breaks in Metro & along the Northeast Coast. Along the South Coast, more clouds and fog patches linger in the onshore flow. In Central, morning freezing rain will end as temperatures rise with a change to some drizzle and even a few Sun breaks along that Northeast Coast. The West Coast is looking at morning Snow and Ice Pellets easing then a linger mix of Flurries, Freezing Drizzle and Drizzle for the afternoon as temps hover around the Freezing mark. Snow and Blowing Snow continue for the Northern Peninsula & Southeastern Labrador with Gusts in the 70-80 km/h range, slowly easing into the afternoon. HV-GB to Makkovik will see the outer edge of the Snowfall with about 5 cm of Snow. Western Labrador to Nain will miss this one completely with a nice day filled with Sun & Cloud and chilly temps. LONG RANGE: Our next system for the Island looks set for Friday. Forecast models are still all over the map with the track of this one, which does look set to move in from the South with Snow for much of the Island on Friday afternoon & evening. Again there are still many ideas on track, but Im currently thinking this will be another messy mix of Snow to Rain for the East & Southeast... and possibly even into Central. Stay tuned for more details on this one over the next few days. Ryan #nlwx
