MICAH 6:8 – “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” What are some of those things you depend on? Food? Water? Money? Your parents? You...r boss? Your friends? Your car? One of the last things you would think of is probably the air you breathe! As breathing is to a natural man, so prayer is to a Christian. However, we should not just pray but depend on God’s Spirit to do what we are doing. If it is not in Spirit, it is not in truth and so, it is all nothing. We can pray, fast and read the Bible everyday but if it is not in Spirit, we miss the point. If you want to depend on God’s Spirit, you must humble yourself that He might be honoured in your life. True humility means total dependence on God for everything. When you depend on God’s Spirit for everything, your heart will be at rest. It is our dependence and drinking into one Spirit and partaking of His sanctifying influences from time to time that actually makes us true Christians and maintains our union with God. We depend on God when we bring all our appetite, affection and hearts desires to the throne of God. Work as if everything depends on you but pray as if everything depends on God.
