MIGHTY SHOOT TO SUMMIT OF DIVISION ONE NORTH LEAGUE MIGHTY Mufulira Wanderers on Sunday shot to the summit of the FAZ Division One north league after beating Zesco Luapula 2-0 in their week 14 fixtures. .And FAZ Division One north league leaders Mufulira Wanderers coach Manfred Chabinga has urged the clubs faithful fans to stick with their team in the quest to return to the Super League. Wanderers lead the table with 28 points, one more than second-placed Kalulushi Modern Stars who were held to a goalless draw at home by Ndola United. Ndola United is currently in 12th position with 16 points from 14 matches played in the second tier FAZ league this season. In the Division One South league, Nkwazi maintained their lead on the table with 30 points despite losing 2-1 to Lusaka City Council. And Luena Buffaloes battled to a goalless draw with Zesco Shockers to move to the pole position of the second tier FAZ standings with 30 points but Nkwazi have a superior goal difference. Shockers are in sixteenth place with 14 points. And Wanderers last played in the top flight in 2005 and have tried in vain to get back to their former self amid financial difficulties. They however have looked a different side since their homeground, Shinde Stadium, was rehabilitated which has meant increased revenue from gatetakings and subsequently breathed new life in the teams performances. The team was first demoted in 2002 after Mopani Copper Mines withdrew sponsorship following the privatisation of the then state owned Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines which used to support the team financially, before they returned in the top flight once in 2005. The Mufulira-based side has the second highest league titles after Nkana. On Sunday, Wanderers dislodged Kalulushi Modern Stars from the top of the log after beating Zesco Luapula 2-0 at home. Wanderers have 28 points after 14 games, one better than second-placed Kalulushi. It will not be easy to maintain the top spot. We have to work extra hard. We are calling on our fans to continue supporting the team in good or bad times so that together we can qualify to the Premier League. That is what we want; I know that, the players know that, Chabinga said. In football you dont make big promises, only God and Jesus keep promises. For us, we just need to continue working and not underrate any opponent because all our opponents want to be promoted, said Chabinga
