MINOR RAPED IN KUPWARA People Demand Stern Punishment To Accused SHAHID Kupwara, : Police have arrested a youth for allegedly raping a minor girl in this frontier district. Police said that accused was a relative of the victim. Police said the accused 19-year old Showket Ahmad Chopan son of Abdul Ahad resident of Salamatwari Kralpora brought a four-year old minor girl (name withheld) to his house on the pretext of giving her candies. “At the time of the crime, the family members of the accused were not present in the home. The minor raised an alarm which attracted attention of her mother who was working in her house. She rushed the scene of the crime and found her daughter unconscious and undressed” said SHO Kralpora Bashir Ahmad. “After witnessing the horrific scene, the mother fell unconscious. Sensing trouble the accused escaped from the spot. Medical examination of the minor was conduced at Sub District Hospital Kralpora which confirmed rape,” the SHO said. The incident triggered massive protests in Kralpora with protestors demanding stern punishment to the accused. Police swung into action and arrested the youth from Aloosa. A case FIR NO-77/13 under section 276 RPC (Rape) was registered in police station Kralpora.
