MISTY Misty has been lethargic, losing weight and appetite - TopicsExpress

MISTY Misty has been lethargic, losing weight and appetite lately. Brought her to clinic today and diagnosed with Pericardial Effusion. X-ray showed enlarged heart and abnormal accumulation of unknown fluid in the sac around her heart. These fluids increased pressure, and causing the heart failed to pump. In other words, she is in critical condition. Other physical exam indicated muffled heart sounds. As Misty is around 8 / 9 years old, we decided to first do with medication for 5 days. Will need to have an ultrasound 5 days after. Worst case scenario, may need to begins with pericardiocentesis, which is an invasive procedure in which a needle and catheter remove fluids from the sac around the heart. By doing that, hopefully will relieves the pressure on the heart which caused by the rapid fluids buildup around the heart that weakens its pumping ability. MARLEY Marley losing his balance lately. He rolled and couldnt stand up right after. Brought him to clinic. Having physical exam and suspected inner ear infection which resulted the imbalance. Inner ear infection is frightening because the vestibular is affected. Rabbit with deep ear infection will roll frequently because their brain thinks the world is spinning due to the signals from the infected vestibular organ. He is under medication and hopefully the antibiotic will ease the infection effectively. MISTY AND MARLEY Misty and Marley, are a pair of outdoor bunnies kept in Eco garden at east side RC. Kids mishandling when playing, dropped them on ground, without treatment resulted them have permanent head tilt. They fought a long way to adapt to their permanent disability caused by trauma. For 4 years, they are so bonded and became pilar to each other. Lets pray for these 2 bunnies, pull through this critical period.
