MIXIS QUESTION OF THE DAY: “Ok, I get that we are all apart of the human race, and that race is a social construct. Some people argue that we are different cultures, but culture is the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age (so someone born in (pick a country) share the same culture despite his/her physical appearance). I like the fact that there are different types and colors of flowers. They are all flowers, but they are different. We are all human, but we are different. I want to be able to celebrate that difference with pride. I don’t mind labels, it they are empowering. Can we come up with a term that would celebrate our physical difference that has no historic or negative connotations?” -- Margret
