MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2014 THE CHURCH OF PENTECOST YOUTH DEV. GUIDE(STREAMS) TOPIC: THE SECOND BOOK OF TIMOTHY 2 TIM 1:1-18 EXPOSITION The author of the Book of 2 Timothy is Apostle Paul. He wrote the book @ approximately A.D 67, shortly before he was put to death. He wrote this book while he was in prison lonely and abandoned. Apostle Paul wrote thus book to encourage his son, Timothy, and all other believers, to persevere in faith (3:14) and to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (4:2) As we journey through this book, let us take note of 4 divine truths Apostle Paul wanted Timothy and us to know. •2 Tim 1:6-7 — For God did not give us a spirit of timidity,but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. • 2 Tim 3:16-17 — All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so m that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. • 2 Tim 4:2 —Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. • 2 Tim 4:7-8 —I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. Lessons/Life Application: The purpose of Gods Word is to mould us so that we will be perfectly equipped in every good work. As God equips us, He admonishes us to preach His Word in season and out of season. If we stand to the end, we will then have the courage to say, we have fought the good fight of faith, and are waiting for our crown of righteousness on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer: Dear Lord,grant me great grace to fight the good fight of faith to end in Jesus name.
