MONEY.................................... There are a handful of people whom money wont spoil, and we all count ourselves among them. Ah, money! What illusions! What fantasies! What dreams we have about money! It is amazing that we are willing to put so much time and energy into something that isnt even real. Money is something that we have made up, seeing it as real is a cherished cultural illusion. When we stand back and look at money from a larger perspective, we really are a little silly about it, arent we? Yet, one of the strangest and most peculiar characteristics I have discovered about money is that it is completely devoid of spirituality. Dealing with it over long periods of time depletes our spirituality. We have developed a myth about money. The myth goes like this: money is neither good nor bad, its what you do with it that counts. This is a favorite myth developed to cover this and other nonspiritual things. I propose that dealing with money depletes our life energy. How do we feel after a siege of paying bills? How do we feel when we are trying to straighten out a mixed-up credit card statement? How do we feel after doing our taxes or meeting with retirement consultants? My experience is that I feel spiritually depleted. Money is a great imbalancer, whether we have a little or a lot. Try sandwiching your money tasks with something spiritual- a reading, a prayer, a meditation, a walk in nature- before and after. See if you experience a difference in the way you feel.
